The following are some often asked questions about derma fillers and how they work.
When you schedule your personalized appointment with Dr. Norman and her professional staff they will be able to tell you what products or treatment plan is best to help meet your needs.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are designed to replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin. They help smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as the fine lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds), or to add volume to your lips.
Which dermal fillers do you currently use at Paradise Valley Womens Care?
We currently use Juvederm®, Restylane® and Perlane®.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Dermal fillers are proven to deliver long lasting results. In a majority of patients most see results lasting up to 6 months.
What are they made of?
Dermal fillers are generally made from hyaluronic acid that had been modified slightly to last longer than the body's own hyaluronic acid. In the human body, natural hyaluronic acid provides volume and fullness to the skin.
Prior to treatment:
Although no pretesting is required, several precautions should be taken; avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with Dr. Norman. She may prescribe a medication to minimize reoccurrence.
Are dermal fillers FDA approved?
Yes, they are approved by the FDA for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Dr. Norman will let you know which products or treatment plans are right for you..
How do dermal fillers differ from BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®?
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are used to correct wrinkles in different ways. Dermal filler products are natural, cosmetic fillers injected into the skin, adding volume to smooth wrinkles such as lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). In contrast, BOTOX® and Dysport® relax the muscles that cause frown lines between your eye brows, or crows feet outside your eye area.
How often should I schedule an appointment?
How long the aesthetic correction lasts is very individual. During your conversation with Dr. Norman she will go over what you should expect. Most patients are recommended to schedule follow-up appointments in 3-6 months.
All of the questions above are very general. However when you meet with Dr. Norman or her professional staff you will receive very specific information that will work for you. We recommend you contact our office today to schedule a personalized consultation. Call 602) 288-2340.
